A Faithful Woman of God

Girl Talk posted a link today to Carolyn McCulley's blog where she writes a tribute to Madonna Aristorenas, a faithful woman of God who died of cancer just recently.

I was encouraged and challenged from hearing about this woman's testimony and life and wanted to share this with you guys... take a look!

This reminded me that there is no greater joy than salvation and no greater hope than in God.

"More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation." Romans 5:11

Weeee!! -- Random Thoughts on Spring Quarter

It's 8th week already and I'm definitely not ready for the end of my sophomore year. I'm going to be a JUNIOR!!

Sadness...
- My discipler Val is going back home! I'm going to miss her a lot. She made me tear up at d-ship potluck.
- I'm no longer going to be leading the frosh girls w/ Bethy! Watching them practice lead makes me wish I could be with them awhile longer.
- No more living on campus...no more getting up 15-30 minutes before class and rushing there hahaha...no more meal points
- Seniors! What a wonderful bunch of men and women of God! I love, respect, and admire them a lot and even though a good number of them are sticking around, it's not quite the same. :-/

Decisions, decisions...all done!
- 6 girls...one three bedroom apartment...my lovely sisters in Christ yay!...craziness, laughter, and movies to come...study? we shall see hahaha
- core...lifesong...ARK(angel, reo, kim)...I love prayer & worship!...excited and scared
- summer plans...living at home...classes at UCSD...hanging out with the many ppl staying this summer...job/volunteer? we'll see

:) :)...
- D-ship w/ Jenn...yay! I have a daughter now :)
- Lighthouse...Searchlight...so much learning from the Word of God...accountability...seeing my brothers and sisters so dedicated to the glory of God! :)
- God's presence on campus from the many fellowships to walking around and hearing ppl's conversations about Him and so much more. People can't help but be exposed to the gospel we preach. May we be more bold in sharing it fully and accurately
- AACF...seeing freshmen grow so much!...so many seekers...being more bold in reaching out to the lost
- randomness w/ friends...I wish I had more time with them, but I feel blessed for the time I do get to spend w/ them

Random...
- I need more self-control...need to study more!!!
- I miss home friends
- Guys in AACF have a sense of humor like no other...I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not hahaha
- I spend too much money on food...I'm running out of money
- Sometimes I really have no idea what is going on outside UCSD
- I'm tired like really tired but I still praise God cause He gives me strength.
- Everything feels surreal right now...I think God wants me to do something more than my normal routine, but I'm not sure what that is right now.
- Banquet...so much to do so little time...got to keep my eyes focused on God...it is all for His glory

"
Do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
    I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10

On my knees...

"Come, let us bow down in worship,
let us kneel before the LORD our Maker" Psalm 95:6

I know I'm weak and You are strong
You give me faith to hold on
Lord, help me see that I'm stronger
When I'm down on my knees
'Cause that's where the power begins
Your boundless strength has no end
No matter what comes my way
I'll just persevere if I just pray ["Pray" - Avalon]

As I woke up this morning and sat down to spend time with God, I felt like there was this wall that keeping me from seeking God. I couldn't focus as I was reading the Word, my prayers seemed scattered as I tried to ignore my runny nose, unceasing coughing, and woozy head. I was frustrated and just wanted to sleep yet I desperately wanted to seek Him because I knew that I couldn't, especially today, do this without Him. Finally, I just bowed on my knees and cried out to Him and in that moment, words of praise came from me as I remembered the strength that He alone gives to the weak. Praise Him that He is mighty, our refuge and our rock.

"But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me." 2 Corinthians 12:9

"As Jesus went on from there, He saw a man called Matthew, sitting in the tax collector's booth; and He said to him, 'Follow Me!' And he got up and followed Him." Matthew 9:9

As I was doing my quiet times yesterday morning (thanks for waking me up pet ;)), this particular verse in Matthew really stuck out to me. Jesus told Matthew to follow Him and he immediately followed. Matthew did not take more time to think about it, he was not reluctant, but rather he followed Jesus when he was called, not knowing where he was going and what would be happening. I should have this attitude. Do I wake up every morning ready to follow Christ wherever He may go? Is there reluctance/fear in my steps and in my heart? There shouldn't be, not if I really desire to serve and glorify Christ in my life.

"Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me." John 12:26

On a completely other topic haha, I stumbled upon this blog called Girl Talk by Carolyn Mahaney (CJ Mahaney's wife) and her three daughters and I found this quote that was pretty interesting, talking about whether women should give men hints that they're interested in them.

"Don't you ultimately want a guy who is attracted enough to purse you without needing hints from you?" -- Carolyn Mahaney
